K9 BIOGRAPHY

BACKGROUND

When ‘real hip-hop’ is mentioned very few people know the true meaning.  For those that know and have lived it, understand that reggae is hip-hops first cousin and are going to instantly gravitate towards K9. He embodies the authentic ‘boom bap’ rugged sampled drums, combined with the reggae baselines and guitar elements, topped with the icing of edutaining lyrical content that reflects true life that the majority can relate to.  Simply put, K9 maintains that 90’s hip-hop sound everybody holds close to their hearts and injects new life into it with a South London Jamenglish style delivery that cross-pollinates with the music in holy matrimony.  There will be no divorce, just a few legitimate children and many bastard children that can never quite sound like their Daddy!

K9 has been involved in different aspects of music for many years. Starting off as a fan and still a fan, K9 has been involved in DJ’ing, Breaking, Producing and Emceeing. Touring the world with Blak Twang and supporting many internationally popular artists from Redman and Method Man to Lauren Hill, K9 has developed a stage show to wow crowds and gain fans. To date K9 has released 3 mix tapes, 2 EP’s and 2 joint albums with his group Frenglish Connexion. The very long awaited and anticipated K9 solo album is finally here.

‘The Re-Education of King 9’ is a 15 track all K9 produced conceptual album that addresses the generic mis-education that we receive in English society and going beyond that to re-educate ourselves. Many that are going through, have gone through and can relate to this ongoing process will fully understand and appreciate K9’s perspectives that are offered in a musical form. In the first single, ‘Escape from Babylon’, K9 describes his issues with dwelling in London geographically, the colonial mentality and expresses his desire to dwell in a country with warmer weather and less corruption.  Look out for the track ‘King 9’ where K9 describes the meaning of his name and how humans need to realize there full value and start living up to their value. ‘Phantom Gods’ describes K9’s stance on God and his dislike for people that worship materialism and multiple Gods. K9 also takes you on a journey through his childhood while growing up in South London, Battersea, Clapham Junction in ‘Trod Wid I’ and offers some words of advice to Dads that are not in a relationship with their children’s mothers and are struggling to be a good father in the track ‘Fatherhood’.
